One of the hottest topics on the popular social site is Follow Friday. What exactly is that, better known as #followfriday?

Everyone suggests other users to follow, each Friday of course. What are the benefits?

We all know how important networking is, and if you're a business you know how important word of mouth advertising is. Twitter does just that! And #followfriday makes it even better.

If you're a business owner this is great advertising for you. If you're updated in the Twitter world and your keeping yourself known amongst your peeps, then #followfriday is a payoff for you. If others enjoy what you have to offer, they're going to suggest you to their followers.

So what's they key to getting promoted on Fridays? Being polite is the first step. When someone replies to you or retweets something you have tweeted, send them a short thank you - they'll appreciate it and remember you. Also make sure you reply to their posts. Let others know they're too being noticed in the Twitter world.

Don't forget #followfriday. It's worth it.

Something Bigger Than Twitter?

They say it will transform your life. It allows you to open your own record company. It also claims to expand your revenue by allowing you to discover a whole new world. Me2everyone.com claims to be the newest, greatest idea that will help you shape the world. That's a big promise!

Me2everyone is going to reach throughout the world, so they say. Andy Fisher, director of the UK team says, "From these experiences, we are helping the projects team design the freelance Customer Care network that will put thousands of people into new work across the next 3 years."

What's different about this website compared to others? Members own this site. When they make a profit, you make a profit.

Although it is a brand new launched website, I didn't get the answers or direction I was seeking on what me2everyone is really all about. They say you can make money, and of course do all the usual stuff that other social networking sites do. You can chat, shop, play, create a photo gallery, protect the environment, and don't forget about launching your own record label. Sounds interesting.

They even offer shareholding. "Where Web 2.0 was all about designing web pages for your personal preferences, me2everyone believes that our success is linked to you being successful. There's so much competition within the social networking world and when you consider that the leading names are only about 4 or 5 years old, there's scope for someone new. Also there are 1.4 billion internet users across the planet, but an estimated 70% of people do not use any social networking website. We wanted to create something that everyone wanted. Giving you the chance to be an owner and share in potential profits seems like a good idea. And with nearly 30,000 new members joining every week it seems you agree!"

Are you as confused as I am? Great!

It peaked my curiosity so I joined. After all, it's free. By December 2012 me2everyone wants at least 100,000,000 registered members. The website was launched in January and 30,000 people per week are joining. That's a lot considering the website isn't even functioning yet.

Finally I get to the point. Fifteen minutes into searching the site I get some real answers. Or maybe not. Me2everyone plans to eventually become a hybrid between a 2D social network and a 3D world. There will be scope for business and there are plans to put 72,000 people into work over the next 3 years.

I'm still skeptical, but curious to see the changes they are planning to make. As for Twitter, I don't think they'll have any problems sleeping at night, wondering where they'll wind up.

Using Twitter For Business?

From John Sternal, Co-Creator of #smbiz

Twitter is a resource that can greatly benefit any small business in any industry. Here we will explore what Twitter is and how you can take advantage of it for business purposes.
If you’re a small business owner, or even if you work for another company, chances are you’ve found yourself at one or two networking events recently. Maybe you knew people there and maybe you didn’t. But you always found yourself engaging in conversation with others talking about a wide variety of topics – the economy, specific business industries, and ultimately, your company. You go to networking events so you can learn about others and for the chance to let others learn about you.

Think of Twitter as a big, ongoing networking event that takes place on the Internet. It is social marketing at its finest. Twitter let’s you share what’s on your mind to potentially millions of people. Each time you want to share something with your group, you have 140 characters (not words) in order to share something with others. It’s the ultimate chance to reveal your “elevator pitch” about your business. But slow down, because there are rules to play this game.

You wouldn’t walk up to a group of people you’ve never met at a traditional networking event and start blabbing about your business. The others would simply walk away from you and never want to talk to you again. It’s bad tact for that situation. First, you have to ease yourself into what other people are talking about, join in their conversation, and ultimately wait until they are ready to accept what you want to say about your company. It’s exercising proper professional tact. And the same goes for using Twitter (or any blog for that matter).

The first thing you want to do is join Twitter (free and easy) and set up your profile. This takes only a matter of minutes. If you have a company URL make sure you include it in your profile. Next, use the search criteria to find others that are conversing (called Tweeting) about topics you are interested: economy, marketing, golf, wine, et al. Once you identify these people, go to their profile and start following them. You will then be able to follow what they are talking about every time they make a Tweet. If they say something that interests you, hit the reply button and send them a comment. But make sure you say something that adds value to the conversation, because you ultimately want them to then click on your profile and start following you as well.

Your ultimate goal is to repeat this process as much as possible so that you begin to get a lot of people to follow you. When this happens, whatever you say via your updates will be seen by everyone who is following you. And when you’re able to steer the conversation in the direction that your company’s value becomes relevant, then you can point them to other places on the Web (links to your Web site, or other Web articles) that promote you and your business.

Full article, go here: http://ow.ly/6cGW

Twitter Founders Visit The View

Two of the Twitter co-founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams visited The View today to discuss the new Social Media phenomenon.

How did Twitter get started? The short version, according to Stone, is that when he and Williams left Google during the peak of it's growth, they met with Jack Dorsey, the third founder of Twitter. Dorsey, an engineer, came up with the idea after looking at the status updates of why people weren't able to answer their messages on instant messaging sites such as Aim. So the idea of letting people know what you are doing in 140 characters or less was born.

According to Stone, "Twitter is not a social network, it's an information network." It's the chance to receive information in real time.

The biggest discussion between Barbara and The View ladies was whether or not Twittering is a verb. "Officially it's twittering, not tweeting" said Stone.

Has Twitter made millions? Not yet. The company is only two years old, and according to Biz and Evan, there are a lot of changes to be made. They also put the rumor to rest that Twitter has no intentions of being bought out by Google, Apple, or Microsoft. It's not for sale!

"There's the need to recognize profit and value, and right now we're recognizing value," added Biz.

The "Whoopi Effect" was introduced this morning, as Twitter announced they will be creating special badges to verify owner's accounts after host Whoopi Goldberg complained of someone using her name to create an account.

Although millions of people are Twittering each day, one person who shows no interest, guest Judge Judy.
